Ramon Gilsanz was interviewed by the History Channel for their series Engineering Disasters.

This episode explores what was to blame for the death of more than two hundred thousand people in the 2010 Haitian earthquake. Inadequate building codes and prevalence of unreinforced concrete structures contributed to the devastation of the earthquake.

“In the case of Haiti, they have a hurricane every year or two, so their construction is adapted to the hurricanes, but it is not adapted to something which happens much less frequently, like earthquakes.”
