Ramon Gilsanz and Akbar Mahvashmohammadi attended the Eighth International Workshop on Connections in Steel Structures (Connections VIII). Researchers, designers, fabricators and steel industry representatives gathered in Boston on May 24-26, 2016 to collaborate and share knowledge within the areas of strength, behavior, fabrication and design of connections for structural steel and composite steel/concrete frames. Co-sponsored by the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) and Northeastern University in conjunction with the European Convention for Construction Steelwork (ECCS), the workshop included 10 sessions and 64 presentations on recent research and innovations in design and analysis.

Ramon presented a summary of the research performed by his team in Alternative Load Path Analysis Guideline Committee (ALPA Chapter 3) titled “Estimating Collapse Capacity of Steel Moment Connections Subjected to Column Removal”.
